Turkish doctors hit back at MHP head in ‘shutdown’ debate

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli accuses

Turkish Medical Association (TTB) has criticized  Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli, who called for the closure of the doctors’ professional organization.
“This attempt is a toxic and despicable plot,” Bahçeli wrote in a series of tweets on Sept. 16, criticizing the associations plan to put up black ribbons in all health institutions to raise awareness about their colleagues who have lost their lives in fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, Duvar English reported.
“The Turkish Medical Association is as dangerous as coronavirus and is spreading threats,” he said.
The TTB said it would stand by its words and actions.
Doctors welcomed support from NGOs, other professional organizations, citizens and political parties.
